Strategies

Strategies, the “tricks of the trade,” offer Alzheimer’s caregivers practical tips and resources that help caregivers manage a loved one, thus contributing to a calm, stable, safe environment. Learning successful communication strategies (*“How you do it, How you say it, How you respond to it,” “Lying to the Disease,” “Don’t you remember?”) greatly impact the response from a person with dementia symptoms.

*While caring for those with Alzheimer’s Dementia, don’t ask questions if you can’t stand the answer. “It is time for…” vs. “Do you want…?” Limiting choices (to your loved one’s ability) will allow him to be successful in making choices.
